My Interview With Denny Krahe

A few weeks ago I had the honor to be interviewed by Denny Krahe, one of the best running coaches in...well ... the western hemisphere. :-)  You can find him here on Twitter or here, on his website.

Today, the podcast is live. Have a listen by clicking HERE.  I'm copying/pasting from his website, below, but by clicking the link you can listen to the audio interview, which takes about 50'ish minutes.  We talk about running, inspiration, weight loss, the amazing running community, etc.

Today I’m joining Melissa Kahn, who has one of those stories that NEVER gets old!

After getting married and having kids, Melissa found herself in need of doing something to help her change her life.

Melissa Kahn, Before She Started Running

Melissa’s Life Before Running

As a kid, Melissa wasn’t very active or athletic.

After getting married and having 4 kids, she had packed on some pounds and after a conversation with her husband she decided it was time to make a change for her health.

The next day she started with the Jenny Craig program, and the rest has been history!

Melissa Kahn, Now

Getting Into Running

As the weight was coming off and her health was improving, a friend suggested that Melissa try running with her.

Never one to back down from a challenge, Melissa signed up for the race (a half marathon!) at got started with the Couch to 5k program to help her get started.

During that half marathon, Melissa was looking far and wide for that elusive runner’s high which never came. It was hard, it didn’t seem to get any easier, but she stuck with it.

Once she found out that other runners also struggle, and embrace the struggle, she embraced it as well and hasn’t looked back!

Run Heifer Run!

Melissa has started a group around the idea of supporting and encouraging it’s members to stay active and live healthy called Run Heifer Run!

The community started online, and has now started to branch out as some of the folks in the group have been able to meet up in person.

For folks that need some tough love and lots of support, Run Heifer Run is an amazing community and I’d definitely encourage you to check it out if it sounds like something you might be interested in.

Connect with Melissa through the Run Heifer Run website, or say hi to her on Twitter and/or Instagram.
