Product Review - Road Noise Vest

Heifers!! Happy Hump Day! I love Hump Day! It's the promise of a weekend that's just around the corner, and we're further from Monday than we will be on Friday. That counts for something, right?

Anyway----today I wanted to write up an overdue review on one of my newest favorite running accessories ever.  I will be honest - I had never even heard of this product until recently, and when I got one - it changed my running excitement, for the better. I only say that about a few things.  This is one of them, and I'm pretty excited to share it with you.  It's called a Long Haul Vest from my newest BFFs over at Road Noise.

Why is it so cool? I'm glad you asked. Here's the deal (why do I always sound like Ross Perot in my head when I say that?) It's a vest with blue-tooth speakers (and wired, in case you don't have blue tooth and are a pilgrim living in 1653) in the shoulders.  That's right, you heard me, in the shoulders.

Why is this a good thing?  Because, SAFETY, heifers, SAFETY.  You run alone, maybe.  You want to hear music, because who wants to hear the sounds of their own huffing and puffing. (not me, I huff and puff WAY too much, I annoy myself with my own breathing) I might need therapy.

I digress. SAFETY.  You need to be aware of what's going on around you - and able to hear noises, people passing you, etc.  The speakers are fully adjustable with a little wired remote that sits in the front pocket - you can push against it, while running, to increase or decrease the volume.  I swiped some of these pics from their website:

Legit street cred wearing this bad-ass vest!

Let's talk about the pacifics, as my kids say.  Which, by the way, drives me nuts. They say it to poke me.  Where were we? Specifics.

Will the sound from the speakers annoy your closest running friends and race-mates? No.   Why? Because nobody else seems to be able to hear it. I ran in a wolf-pack of 3 over the weekend. I had the volume turned up at least 3/4 of the way to "high" and not one person said they could even hear it.

Does this chafe?  I mean, the bouncing of the vest against your body.....  Ummm, nope.  It's adjustable on the side-straps.  I had them nice and snug, no bouncing whatsoever.  No chafing, not one bit during my long run. It fits snugly - and you forget you're wearing it. I did put my iPhone 7 in the front pocket which felt  a little bulky, but it can also go in the back pocket (which is removable, and stayed on my kitchen counter during my test - run).

This vest isn't JUST for runners, that's the cool thing. I cycle too.  This vest is PERFECT for cycling because the back pocket is big enough to hold your tire-changing kit etc in case you get a flat tire.

It's got reflective stripes on it as you can see in the pics - and comes in a few different colors. They sell water bottles that fit into the pockets as well, so you can stay hydrated on longer runs.  By the way, did I mention this is WATERPROOF?  Could this be any better?

Best part??? You can order one using a special heifer discount.  When you place your order, enter discount code RHR for 10% off of your purchase.  I'd say that's a win win.

Not every accessory I try is as cool as this one - I am pleasantly surprised and would definitely recommend this to ALL my running friends!
