Have Mercy, Heifers! Those of y'all who follow me on "The Twitter" know all about #SpazPappy! And you know about Lilly too. She's the good dog. In case you're not on Twitter (whaaaa? How can you not be on twitter? Go sign up, it's WAY cool!)... let me introduce my two crazy dogs.
Often times, I leave them at home (ok ok. full disclosure - by "often times" i really mean ALL THE TIMES). It's not because I want to leave them at home. They foam at the mouth, bark, and jump when they see me going for a run. They want to go SOOOO badly. It's just that carrying a leash, when you're running at o'dark thirty, in the ... o'dark.... is hard. You can't always see what YOU'RE about to step in let alone them. Actually though since I have my Knuckle Lights (read my review HERE) that's not so much of an issue anymore - but it had always been an issue for me bringing them. And so I've been in the habit of running dawg-free.
Then one day, I was sittin' at the pool and up through the ground come a bubblin' tool. Leash that is. Stunt Puppy. (Come on, if you haven't watched the Beverly Hillbillies, you haven't lived). Now y'all are singing the song in your head, like me, aren't you? You're welcome.
What is a Stunt Puppy leash, you ask? Good question. Glad you brought it up. It's the world's BESTEST invention in the history of EVER for bringing your crazy dog with you on your run. It's a leash you wear around your waist - hands-free running with your favorite puppies!
Here's the one I have - it's gray. I thought it might be stiff and uncomfortable - WRONG. It's super soft and the leash part is stretchy which allows for those ... uh.. moments when my marvelously, perfectly trained #SpazPuppy tries to deviate from our run to pee on everything.
I know I always say this but it's true. I can't even lie. I wasn't really sure how this whole situation would play out. I mean, he's earned his name for a reason. And Lilly - well let's just say Lilly is a rescue dog. She's 5 years old and came to us 3 years ago in rough shape. We're just happy she's finally feeling secure and doesn't eat the FedEx guy anymore. She's very protective and leash training is the least of our issues most of the time. It's kind of a back-burner priority because she just wants to protect us. From everything. It's endearing, in a fangs and hackles kind of way.
So ---- the leash arrives, I unwrap it and the dogs didn't quite know what it was.... until I strapped that bad boy around my waist over my running belt. Well, cue the CRAZY DOGS! It's like they just KNEW something fun was about to happen. I had to pick which dog to bring first. I'm not a glutton for punishment, no way in h*ll I was going to bring two dogs out the first time.
I have been battling a heel injury and was benched briefly from running, so I brought #SpazPuppy out on a maiden voyage, for a slow jog/fast walk. I know they say a picture speaks 1,000 words. I think his face says it all. He LOVES this leash. No more being yanked and pulled. He can run right next to me, free to have his own stride and I'm FREEEEE from carrying the leash. I asked him to channel his emotions, put them into one face, and then snapped this iPhone pic when he told me he was ready.
I've taken him a few times now, with the leash. Every single time gets better and better. He has learned that as long as he stays with me, we are both happy, we can run like the wind. To say I love this product is an understatement. They're BAE (did I use that right? My teenagers would roll their eyes at me if they read this). Anyway - #SpazPuppy changed his facebook status to "in a relationship" with Stunt Puppy leashes. He is requesting a blue one for Christmas next year. Someone be sure to let Santa know we're Jewish, mmkay?
Now let's talk about Lilly. You know, the GOOD dog. If I had a dog-soulmate, I think it would be Lilly. My husband thinks this is #awkward...but whatevs. She GETS me. She understands me. Which is why when she saw it was HER turn for some Stunt Puppy action, she was even more excited than Spaz. It's like she just KNEW what to do - probably because she stared longingly out the front window watching me with Spaz the first few times we went out. So she was mentally calculating that she'd one-up him (because, again, she's THE GOOD DOG). She's NEVER been good on a leash. And when I mean "not good" - that's code for AWFUL. She jumps, bites the leash, barks, cries, wanders, pulls, etc.
But something magical happened. I'm not sure if it's because she didn't see ME holding the leash, as you'd normally do on a hand-held leash, or because she took such detailed notes watching SpazPuppy on his walks and runs, but she was magically PERFECT on this leash. SHe didn't pull. She didn't run ahead or to the side. She stayed RIGHT with me the entire time. This has never happened.
Now, Heifers. I don't know if Stunt Puppy sprinkled some magic Stunt powder on this leash or what... but wow! She stayed next to me the entire time, keeping up. No pulling, no crazy puppy anxiety, nothing. Just pure happiness.
I can't recommend this product highly enough. But wait, there's more! Isn't that what that infomercial guy says on that 2am NinJitSu knife commercial? But wait! There's more! Order now, and you'll get 24 extra knives thrown in. Do y'all notice I go off on tangents a lot? Sorry. ADD is real. Anyway - they don't JUST have leashes over at StuntPuppy.com. Check out that link to see a few more of their products. I'm definitely intrigued and can't wait to try more!
After much thought and deliberation, #SpazPuppy has only one comment for his new BFFs over at StuntPuppy - I WUFF YOU LONG TIME!!!!
