Heifers! It's been a bit since I've done a product review - I'm excited to bring you my review on Detach Coconut Water - "Evolved."
I'm not a big fan of electrolyte-type drinks normally. I don't use them before a hard workout, and only if I have them conveniently around my house will I drink them during or afterwards. I would never have heard about Detach had I not been asked to review it as part of the BibRave program. It's not in stores, only available for online purchase.
I was curious. I can't lie. I mean, it's gotta taste better than Gatorade, right? (No offense, gatorade, I'm just not into gators and such).
My package arrived, and I was intrigued. It looks like any other sports drink, really. Note: You cannot buy Detach in stores - only online, in case you're about to run out to the neighborhood Piggly Wiggly to grab some. Stay in your jammies, y'all. It's not in stores.
Here's a little bit about the product, straight from their website:
"All plant based nutrition, including our low calorie superfood ingredients organic coconut nectar and organic wildflower honey. They provide a sustained energy source (low GI) and unlike imitation sweeteners, Detach has no funky after taste. At 60 total calories it beats other natural hydration drinks."
I can agree with this - it has ZERO weird aftertaste and it really has a pleasant taste, no nasty heavy coconut flavor to contend with after the fact. No salty weirdness. No buyers remorse. No walk of shame to your toothbrush trying to get the taste out of your mouth.
One of the things I enjoy most about Detach is that there's no GI issue after drinking it. A lot of the sports type drinks leave you feeling a little off in the tummy...Detach left me with no issues whatsoever. My stomach never felt queasy. Big bonus for someone who's had their gall bladder out and has to be so careful about ANYTHING I eat or drink. This is a huge plus for me.
All in all I think this is a great sports drink. If you don't mind mail delivery and paying shipping, and are willing to pay for quality, I say give it a try! You have nothing to lose!
I've seen a few of my fellow BibRave Pro friends use this for smoothies - it was a GENIUS idea, one which I'd still like to try, just haven't had the time yet. Add in some Greek yogurt and berries, I believe, maybe some pineapple, and all you need to add is a beach and ocean, and you'll be all set.
